ABOUT US

The Asian Urban Information Center of Kobe (AUICK) is an international cooperation, non-government organization, located in Kobe, Japan. AUICK was established in 1989 with the support of the United Nations Population
Fund (UNFPA)
and Kobe City Government, with the aim of building extensive information and human networks among medium-sized cities in Asia, as a means to assist in the resolution of population and urbanization-related issues.

NEWS (September, 2011)

AUICK has dispatched a team of expert nurses and midwifes to provide technical support at a newly constructed 600-bed maternal and child health care hospital in Danang, Vietnam. The delegation, who visited Danang in March and returned in August-September, 2011, are arranging
a training program to improve nursing skills.

AUICK Technical Support in Danang, VietnamThis is the second Technical Support delegation after AUICK sent a team of firefighters to Surabaya, Indonesia, to help improve emergency rescue service coordination and response in 2009.


The AUICK Technical Support Program registers retired Kobe City Government officials, professionals and NGO staff, to be dispatched on a volunteer basis to AUICK Associate Cities (AACs). There, they assist with projects and programs to improve the welfare of citizens.

Workshops
AUICK annually organizes workshops to improve the knowledge, awareness and understanding of senior city planners and administrators on specific issues of population and urban development.


Technical Assistance
AUICK sends technical expert volunteers to assist their counterparts in AACs in implementing population and development projects, with particular emphasis on maternal and child health care.


UNFPA Seminars
AUICK holds international seminars on the themes of its program.

AUICK develops case studies of good practices in the implementation of urban services.

AUICK conducts Research Projects on services and data in the nine AUICK Associate Cities (AACs).
