AUICK's International Advisory Committee Meeting was held in Bangkok on
May 27
and 28, 2002. AUICK officials and seven out of eleven commissioned IAC
members attended. The meeting was chaired by Dr.Krasae Chanawongse,
Minister of the Prime minister's Office, Thailand.
Based on the activities report made by the AUICK office, IAC members actively exchanged opinions and ideas on various matters including the training courses, the Fifth In-Depth Study and the new project of "Asian Urbanization in the New Millennium", which intend to publish a book to provide the outlook for urbanization in nineteen of the Asian countries by using the most recent census data for reference of scholars and administrators. At the closing of the meeting, IAC members resolved to recognize AUICK President Sasayama who resigned his twelve years long office of Mayor of Kobe in November, 2001. A silver plate incised as "With appreciation for outstanding leadership in reconstruction of Kobe City and continued support for AUICK" was presented to him at the farewell luncheon. Participants
