First Group Training Course
on Integrated Urban Policy 1994
PARTICIPANT QUALIFICATIONS
- The applicants must
be recommended by
both the chief administrator of the city to
which
the applicants belong and the country director of UNFPA.
- The applicant must be
a
middle-ranking
administrative official of a
medium-sized city with a population of 100,000 to 4 million.
("Middle-ranking administrative official" means an official
who is in a position to be involved in policy making, and who
is supervising and giving guidance to the staff in charge within the
municipality to which he or she belongs.)
- The applicant should
belong
to a comprehensive
planning department
or to a department where countermeasures are devised and planned
regarding urban problems due to population problem. Also, it is
necessary for the applicant to continue doing the same
work even after the completion of this program.
- The applicant should
be a
university graduate,
or one with the same
level of scholastic ability, who has a strong desire and ability to
take part in the program.
- The applicant must
have a
tenure in office of
10 years or more in
the concerned municipality.
- The applicant must be
age 40
or younger, and be
in good health to
undergo the training course. Participation of women during pregnancy or
just after childbirth is not allowed.
- As the program is held
in
English, the
applicant must have
sufficient command of English in both conversation and comprehension to
take part in the program.
- The person must not
belong
to any military
branch.
