AUICK First Study Course on Specific Fields
of Urban Policy 1996
PARTICIPANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Participants must be decided on by AUICK, from among
applicants who were recommended by both the chief administrator of the
city to which the applicant belong and the UNFPA Country
Representative.
- The applicant must be a middle-ranking administrative official of a
medium-sized city with a population of 100,000 to 4 million.
("Middle-ranking administrative official" is defined as a
managerial-level official who is in a position to be involved in
policy-making, and who supervises and gives guidance to the staff in
charge within the municipality to which he or she belongs.)
- The applicant should belong to a comprehensive planning department.
Also, it is necessary that the applicant be expected to continuously do
the same work even after the completion of this course.
- The applicant should be a university graduate, or one with the same
level of scholastic ability, who has a strong desire and ability to
take part in the program.
- The applicant must have a tenure in office of 10 years or more in
the concerned municipality.
- The applicant must be aged 40 or younger, and be in good health to
undergo the training course. Participation of women during pregnancy or
just after childbirth is not allowed.
- As the program is held in English, the applicant must have a
sufficient command of English in both conversation and comprehension to
take part in the program.
- The person must not belong to any branch of the military.
