UNFPA
Seminar
Sound
Mind and
Sound Body:
Let us think and learn and
have a wonderful adolescence
As part of its efforts to
alleviate poverty and enhance physical, psychological , and social
well-being, the United Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA) is promoting actions to ensure more effective
reproductive health services worldwide. It is also focusing especially
on young people, adolescents and those going through puberty.
In many countries, and especially in Asia, young people are
suffering serious health problems from ineffective reproductive health
services and education. Even in Japan, where advanced health
care service is widely available, there is a rising problem of sexually
transmitted diseases, such as AIDS, among the youth. Educational
programs for reproductive health have often been deficient, and
adolescents have often been overlooked in regular clinical services.
In the forthcoming
seminar, which is open to everyone for free, specialists of UNFPA and
high officials of nine cities in different Asian countries will discuss
their problems and programs they have undertaken to address these
problems. General participants are
also invited to join open discussion of both problems and possible
programs to address the programs. We look forward to your
participation in the seminar.
